Best Candidates
Traditional metal braces are a great choice for both adults and children. Our conventional braces are made of high-grade, stainless steel arch wires threaded through brackets that are strategically placed to gently move your teeth into optimal position. They are an ideal choice for patients with jaw alignment issues, crowded or gapped teeth or under or overbites. We also use top-quality elastics that are simple to apply and don't break easily. During your consultation, we will discuss your orthodontic treatment options and help you select the method that best fits your needs.
What to Expect
During your consultation, a personalized treatment plan will be developed by a MINT dentistry professional for your specific needs. On the day of your appointment, you will be asked to settle into one of our relaxing treatment chairs in a well-equipped procedure room. After slipping on a set of our Beats headphones and a pair of our MINT sunglasses, your teeth will be prepared and cleaned before we put on your metal braces. Once we have applied the bonding agent to your teeth, your metal brackets will be carefully placed. When the brackets are all in place and set, we will thread the arch wire through. You will then be able to choose your desired elastic band color(s). The bands keep the arch wire attached to the metal brackets. Typically, the application process moves fairly quickly and patients often experience no pain. You will need to return to our office once a month for check-ups and adjustments.
Treatment Aftercare
Metal braces can make cleaning and flossing your teeth more challenging. However, proper oral hygiene is essential to your orthodontic treatment. Before you leave our office with your new braces, our team will educate you on how to best clean your teeth and provide you with helpful tips. As a general rule, we recommend that you brush and floss your teeth after every meal. Keeping all your follow-up appointments and regular dental cleanings will also help to ensure optimal results. Typically, most patients wear braces for 1 – 2 years, but your treatment time will ultimately depend on the severity of your case. After your treatment is over, we will remove your braces and fit you for a retainer. A MINT dentistry professional will help you select the right retainer for your new smile.
The MINT Commitment
Compared to other orthodontic treatments, traditional metal braces are typically less expensive. During your consultation, we will go over your treatment options and cost estimates, so you can choose the method that best fits your needs, goals, and budget. If you have dental insurance, our skilled support staff will contact your provider to understand your coverage and determine your personal costs. If you don't have insurance, MINT dentistry accepts many payment methods and we can help you find low-interest medical financing.
