Best Candidates for Dental Crowns
A crown can help in a variety of situations. They can be used to keep a tooth (weakened by decay) from breaking or they can hold parts of a tooth together that have already cracked. Crowns can also be used to fix a tooth that is loose or extremely worn down. They can serve as a covering and support for a tooth with a cavity that is too large for a normal filling, to hold a dental bridge in place, and to cover misshapen or discolored teeth. MINT dentistry crowns are made with top-quality porcelain and are secured with state-of-the-art techniques to ensure a beautiful result that lasts a long time.
What to Expect
Once your treatment plan has been created, one of MINT’s dental professionals will take impressions of your teeth so your crown can be custom made. If needed, a temporary crown can be placed over your tooth while your custom crown is in production. Once your crown is complete, our support staff will schedule an appointment for placement. After settling into one of our luxurious treatment chairs, you will be offered a pair of Beats headphones and MINT sunglasses to help you feel at ease during your procedure. Next, the area to be treated will be numbed with a local anesthetic. Other sedation options may be available to help you feel more comfortable during the procedure if you have any fears or anxieties. Once you are ready, a skilled dentist will prepare the tooth by removing any areas of decay and filing down the tooth to make room for the crown so it will fit snugly. The crown will be cemented onto the tooth or attached to the dental implant. After the crown is set, we will adjust the fit so your bite is correct.
Unless you added sedation to your procedure, you should be able to leave once your crown is placed to continue your day. A member of our team will go over the best way to care for your new crown, including food to avoid and the best way to keep it clean. We highly recommend all patients come back for a bite adjustment after getting a crown to ensure their alignment is perfect. Bite complications are almost unavoidable because the patient’s mouth is numb, but are easily fixed. Just call MINT. During your exams at MINT dentistry, a skilled dental professional will assess your crown and adjust the fit as needed so it remains comfortable. We will let you know when the crown needs to be replaced, but with proper care, a crown should last for many years. If you experience any problems with your crown (for example, it becomes loose or falls out), contact our office for help. Do not try to fix it or put it back in since this can lead to an infection or bad fit.
The MINT Commitment
If you have dental insurance, some of the cost of your crown may be covered. After speaking with your insurance company, our office can better estimate your out-of-pocket expenses. During your consultation, a member of our team can help you determine the best material for your crown that fits your budget. We will also go over payment options, including the MINT discount plan, to make your treatment more affordable. MINT dentistry is committed to helping each of our patients get an attractive smile. Our dental restorations are made with the highest quality porcelain material so they look great and last a long time.
